ABOUT US

We are the Walch and Marcantonio family from Florida…. who love exploring the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and found the quaint town of Maggie Valley back in 1995. Over the years, we purchased and offered 3 log cabins for vacation rentals in the Maggie Valley area and now exclusively offer our Walch Creekside Log Cabin Retreat.

We can still remember the day in 2000 when we drove up to the cabin with our Realtor. We turned off Soco Road and we were in the clouds and foggy mist almost the entire way up the 2 mile gravel road to the cabin. The clouds & mist cleared upon arrival at the cabin and as we got out of the car we were overwhelmed by the beauty of 500 feet of a mountain creek. Linda remembers saying to Marc “I don’t care what the cabin is like inside, we are buying this place as it has that special nature spirit feeling”. To our delight the wraparound deck lead us into the lower level of the cabin and we were pleasantly pleased with the layout of this 3 story cabin and felt we could make it into a special retreat for families to gather and enjoy each other’s company surrounded by the beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

Linda grew up on an island so she loves going to the mountains and is now section hiking the Appalachian Trail (AT).   Marc and his childhood friends have always loved nature,  spending their free time exploring local woods and mountains and this past year invited those friends (now working at Aquariums, National Geographic Society and Smithsonian Museum) to experience the diverse forests of the Smoky Mountains surrounding our cabin to document the amazing Salamander diversity that exists only in this area. Our son Christian, along with cousins and friends spent spring breaks during their childhood hiking along the creek and creating their own “camp” in the bunk and game room only coming upstairs for meals. Now Christian with wife Elle and grand daughter Vivi share time at the cabin with their Florida cousins and friends especially when the snow is falling enjoying the winter sport offered in the area.

We bring over 30 years of experience of owning and operating vacation rental properties not only in Maggie Valley, NC but Roatan, Honduras in the western Caribbean Las Palmas Villas and now six cabins in Soldotna, Alaska at our Kenai River Soaring Eagle Lodge & Cabins . Our son Christian would say to us through the years “why do we have to buy a house wherever we vacation”, of course he is loving it now with so many wonderful locations to vacation with his family.
